Though Karambit was originally created by indigenous groups of the Indo-Malay region, it quickly found its place in the islands of Philippines due to the close proximity of their borders. The Filipino and Indonesian karambits mainly differ in the fact that the former usually has more blade width.
This stealth weapon was molded to work with the native Escrima marial art systems. Unlike the Silat style of Karambit training, the Escrimadors add multiple hand drills using the Karambit, similar to the rattan stick routines.
